I would like to blog daily, but Spencer has taken over around here. But I don't complain because he is doing his husbandship duties.
He is watching the Discovery Channel right now so I have like 30 seconds to post.
I wanted to show you MY FIRST CROCHET project!
Lessons learned:
1. Yarn isn't cheap, especially when you are making an afghan.
2. It feels great to relax and do something productive at the same time.
3. Grant runs away with the yarn ball if you chase him.
Also...
Last Tuesday was the mother of all Pack Meetings.
I planned the PINEWOOD DERBY and BLUE AND GOLD BANQUET for the same night. (usually they are done in separate months)
I would totally recommend this to anyone. It went really well.
We ate, they raced, we were out of there in under 2 hours.
Trick: Helium-filled balloons make things look more special.
Peace.

You're kind of my hero. Afghan, pinewood derby and blue and gold banquet? Amazing.
So, I totally love the afghan, way to go! PS, I love that Taylor is the only one not dressed in his scout uniform!
I am super impressed. Crocheting, pinewood derby and fancy balloons? You are too much!! The afghan turned out great by the way!
It is so nice to have female feedback... Spencer says things like, "I like your blanket because I can stick my toes through the holes."
i usually hate how crochet looks- but i love love love this!!! man you are talented.
Hi there,
I was just googling images of afghans and came across yours... beautiful! I am thinking about attempting my first afghan and am wondering how/where you found the information. And - how long did it take?!?!
Thanks,
Kate
kate, I just did a double crochet stitch with 2 different colors of yarn for each stripe. you can find out how to do this stitch easily online. It took me awhile (like two weeks) to do it but it is way too big and heavy. I would stick to a 60"x 60" or something. Good luck!
